Santina M. Tobias

Santina M. Tobias, 93, formerly of 129 Spohn Rd, Sinking Spring, and 1029 N 5th Street, Reading, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2024. She was the widow of Jesse W. Tobias, who passed away on March 30, 2009.

Born in Reading to the late Victor and Rose (DeAngelis) Brussellis, Santina graduated from Reading High School in 1949. Santina served as Central Catholic High School's Physical Education Teacher. She also was the Physical Education teacher for the Olivet Boys Club. She was a Cheerleading Coach for her alma mater, and she also coached girls' basketball for St. Margaret's grade school. An active woman throughout her life, Santina played volleyball, basketball, and softball in city rec leagues and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary for the Wodenschire Pool. Later in life, Santina worked for the Photography Department at Dreh's.

Left to treasure her memory is her daughter, Cynthia T. Hettinger, wife of Scott Hettinger; her grandchildren, Scott Hettinger and Stacey Brown; her great grandchildren, Noah, Scott, Carson, Ava Grace, Sawyer, and Sadie; and her brother, Victor Brussellis, husband of Linda Brussellis.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Ignatius of Loyola Roman Catholic Church, 2600 St Albans Dr, Reading, PA 19609, with committal to follow at Laureldale Cemetery.
