Sandra June (Bratton) Scolastico, 66, of Reading, died February 7, 2009 in the Emergency Room at the St. Joseph Medical Center.
She was the wife of John Clement Scolastico Sr., whom she married December 31, 1971.
Born in Virginia on July 7, 1942, she was a daughter of the late Paul Bratton and June Bratton Freil.
She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Reading, where she was a member of church council for four years and volunteered in many capacities.
Sandra was a past president of the Greenfields Fire Company. She was the first female in Berks County to hold this position.
She was employed a number of years as a cook at both Showboat and the Riveredge.
Sandra also bartended for 10 years at the Greenfields Fire Company and was last employed another 10 years as a bartender for the Reading Phillies.
She is also survived by four children: Christopher T. Rhein of Muhlenberg Township; John C. Jr., husband of Jennifer A. (Ernesto) Scolastico, of Sinking Spring Borough; Jamie M. Scolastico of Cumru Township and Jennifer L. (Scolastico), wife of Gregory L. Duffin of Cumru Township.
Other survivors include three siblings: Denise (Bratton), widow of Gary Clark of Mount Penn; Jeannie A. (Freil) Gring of Reading and Kenneth Freil of Muhlenberg Township.
There are also two grandsons: Ethan J. Scolastico and Nicholas C. Scolastico.
Services will be Tuesday at 11:00 am in Christ Lutheran Church, 1301 Luzerne St., Reading, with Rev. Bruce G. Osterhout officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to services in the church. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Exeter Township.
