Samuel D. Simonton, 75, of Wyomissing, died September 13, 2008 in Reading Hospital.
He was the husband of Rose M. (Pehlman) Simonton.
Born in Allentown, he was the son of Margaret D. (Douglas) Simonton, Wyomissing and the late Frederick D. Simonton.
He was a graduate of Wilson High School.
Sam was in sales in the transportation industry for over 40 years; the last 20 of which he was employed by Landis Transportation as a salesman last working Wednesday.
He was a lifetime member of the 14th Ward and a former member of the Goldwing Motorcycle Club, Reading. Sam loved to boat on the Chesapeake Bay.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by his son, Douglas B., West Lawn and his three daughters, Sandra J., wife of Joe Torres, Oceanside, CA; Susan B., wife of Samir Serhan, Starnburg, Germany and Sharon A. Simonton, fiancee of Lee Stoudt, Wyomissing. There are two step-daughters, Tammy Weinhold, Denver, PA and Teresa, wife of Chad Usner, Ephrata. Eight grandchildren and four step-grandchildren also survive him.
A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday at 7 p.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading. Friends may call from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
