Samuel Brooklyn Reed, 19, of Greenfields, was pronounced dead September 1, 2007 at 2:26am by the Allegheny County Coroners Office after being struck by a vehicle in Pittsburgh.
Born August 10, 1988 in St. Josephs Hospital, Reading, PA, he was a cherished son of Kurt E. and Peggy A. (Leidel) Reed of Greenfields and his beloved brother, Evan M. Reed a junior at Schuylkill Valley High School.
He was a 2006 graduate of Schuylkill Valley High School, where he was on the cross country and track teams. He was also a recipient of the Advance Placement Scholar Award.
Samuel was a sophomore at the University of Pittsburgh, where he was studying Anthropology and was employed by the Pitt Program Council.
He is also survived by his maternal grandfather, Alvin G. Leidel of Spring Township; his paternal grandmother, Arlene A. (Weisner) Reed of Greenfields and his paternal step-grandmother, Lois Reed of Reading.
Other survivors include two uncles, David A. husband of Jane (Redrow) Leidel of Worcester, Mass and Craig A. Reed of Leesport.
There are also two cousins, Sarah A. Leidel and Elizabeth M. Leidel.
Memorial services will be held Saturday at 11:00 am in Gring's Mill Park, Tulpehocken Road, Spring Township, across from the Penn State Berks Campus.
