Samuel Lattanzio, 73, of Muhlenberg Township, died February 6, 2008 at 4:46 pm in The Reading Hospital and Medical Center, where he had been a patient since January 18th.
He was the husband of Jan Marie (Bukowski) Novak.
Born in Reading on November 3, 1934, he was a son of the late Frank Sr. and Carmella (Milici) Lattanzio.
He was a member of Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, Reading.
Samuel was an Air Force Veteran of the Korean War.
He attended Reading High School and was a 1954 graduate of Bryland Beauty School, Reading.
Samuel owned and operated Mr. Sam's Beauty Salon's in the 60's with shops in Reading, Mount Penn and Shillington, working with his nephew, Ronald Lattanzio.
He and his wife Jan later owned Sam's Lounge on Penn Street from 1975 until 1980. They then owned Park Hotel in Canton, Tioga County from 1980 until 1985.
They last owned Jan's Sub's-N-Stuff in Reading from 1986 until their retirement in 2005.
He loved the outdoors, especially hunting with his family and friends.
Samuel is also survived by a daughter Kim M. (Lattanzio) wife of Steve S. Behm of Reading and a step-daughter, Kim Ann (Novak) wife of Kim B. Epler of South Heidelberg Township.
Other survivors include a brother, Anthony Lattanzio of Muhlenberg Township; three grandsons, Troy S. husband of Susan M. (Readinger) Behm of Windsor Township; Shaun M. husband of Christina (Vaccaro) Behm of Lower Alsace Township and Alexander L. Epler of South Heidelberg Township.
There are also two great grandchildren; Jordan T. Behm and Paige M. Behm, both of Windsor Township.
Several nieces and nephews also survive him.
He was predeceased by three siblings; Frank Lattanzio, Jr., Mary Calcasacco and Rose Harvan.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 1:00 pm in Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 3rd & Franklin Streets, Reading, with Msgr. Felix Losito celebrating. Burial will follow with Military Honors in Gethsemane Cemetery, Muhlenberg Township. Friends may call Sunday 6:30 - 8:00 pm in Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale. No public viewing on Monday.
