Samuel "Pip" Geddio, 88, of Reading, died May 11, 2010 in the Reading Hospital, where he had been a patient for the last five weeks.
He was married August 9, 1947 to Florence Mary (Distasio) Geddio, who died October 19, 2004.
Born in his Reading residence on January 30, 1922, he was a son of the late Salvatore and Rosolia (Cappadona) Geddio.
He was a member of Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, Reading.
Samuel was a Corporal in the US Army and served in the Philippines in the 2nd World War.
He was employed 29 1/2 years as a relief man with Firestone Tire & Rubber Company, Pottstown, retiring June 21, 1980.
Samuel was also a free lance carpenter for over 40 years.
He was a life member and stock holder with South End Gun Club.
Samuel enjoyed his morning coffee with the "boys" at Heritage Auto Sales.
He also loved Hunting, Fishing and Trapp Shooting.
Samuel is survived by two children: Samuel C., husband of Patricia A. (Grant) Geddio of Brecknock Township and Donna M. (Geddio) Piccone of Reading.
He is also survived by three siblings: Anthony "Nino", husband of Adele Geddio of Muhlenberg Township; Catherine (Geddio), widow of Joseph Hydock of Reading and Rose (Geddio), wife of Theodore High of Reading.
There are also five grandchildren: Marc, husband of Michelle (Sweigart) Geddio; Michelle (Geddio), wife of Bernard Anton; Michael Geddio; Laurie Piccone, financee of Charles Waraksa and Jared Piccone.
Seven great grandchildren also survive him: Samuel, Jack, Owen and Gabriel Anton and Christian, Sophia and Joseph Geddio.
Dad passed away after a five week long battle in the Reading Hospital. The family would like to thank all those special people who made his stay as comfortable as possible. He is now with Mom, Dick, Ann and all his old friends. You will be missed.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10:00 am in Holy Rosary R.C. Church, 3rd & Franklin Streets, Reading. A viewing will be held Saturday 8:30 - 10:00 am in the Church. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, Muhlenberg Township.
