Samuel T. Garland, 81 of Hamburg died December 24th in his residence. He was the husband of Barbara J. (Potts) Garland. Sam was born in Pottsville and was the son of the late Samuel G. and Kathryn (Stefansky) Garland. He was a 1953 graduate of St. Clair High School where he played football and baseball. Sam proudly served his country during the Korean War as a United States Marine. Sam was a car salesman most of his career working at various dealers throughout the Hamburg area. He was of the Roman Catholic Faith and was past president of the Hamburg Jaycees and Hamburg Sports Boosters. He was a former member of the Hamburg Rotary and an avid supporter of Hamburg Athletics. One of Sam's greatest joys was golfing at Perry Golf Course, Shoemakersville. In addition to his wife, Sam is survived by two sons; Samuel husband of Connie Garland, Lenhartsville, Eric P. husband of Cindy, Oley, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Additional survivors include a brother, Thomas Stefansky, a sister Kathleen Homovich, both of St. Clair. A sister, Sylvia Holley, predeceased him. A viewing will be held on Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM from the Burkey & Driscoll Funeral Home, Inc., 40 S. 4th Street, Hamburg, PA. Funeral and burial will be private.
