Services for Samuel Acevedo, 23, Reading, will be Saturday at 8:30 a.m. in Glad Tidings Assembly of God, Spring Township.

Burial will be in Berks County Memorial Gardens, Maidencreek Township. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., West Reading, is in charge of arrangements.

Acevedo died Monday around 7 a.m. in St. Joseph Medical Center after he was pinned under his moving car in Mount Penn Saturday night.

He died of chest injuries suffered Saturday night at 23rd Street and Howard Boulevard, according to the Berks County coroner's office.

Acevedo's death was ruled an accident, officials said. He was the 18th person to die this year as a result of accidents on county roads.

Born in Reading, he was a son of Manuel and Sylvia (Ocasio) Acevedo, with whom he resided.

Acevedo was employed as a furnace operator by Cambridge-Lee Co., Ontelaunee Township, since February 2004.

He was a member of Glad Tidings Assembly of God.

Acevedo was a volunteer for the Mount Penn Fire Company since 2000.

He is also survived by three brothers: Manuel, Reading; Daniel, West Lawn; and Emmanuel, Humacao, Puerto Rico.

Other survivors include his paternal grandparents, Juan and Lydia (Perez) Acevedo, and his maternal grandparents, Ramon and Modesta (Matos) Ocasio, all of Reading.

There is also his great-grandmother, Mita (Maldonado) Perez, Pottstown.

Friends may call at the church on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. Contributions may be made to the Mt. Penn Fire Company, 2711 Grant Street, Mt. Penn, PA 19606.
