Sally Irene Schmidt

Sally Irene Schmidt, 68, formerly of West Reading, passed away on September 2, 2013 in Keystone Villa, Douglassville.

She was born on May 27, 1945 in Lawrence, Kansas to the late Walter Ludwig and Estelle Irene (Stong) Schmidt.

Sally graduated from Wyomissing High School in 1963 and earned a Bachelor's Degree from Juniata College, Huntingdon, PA in 1967.

She began her career at Child Development in Reading, PA after college. She continued her career at Berks County Children and Youth Services as a social worker and later as Supervisor of In-home Services. She retired after many years of service.

Sally was a member of Calvary United Church of Christ, Reading.

She loved riding her horse, Peg, and caring for the homeless cats she rescued over the years. She also enjoyed gardening and spent countless hours tending her beautiful plants.

Sally is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, David W. and MaryAnn T. Schmidt, Macungie, PA.

She is also survived by her nephew, Brian D. Schmidt, his wife, Chris and their son, Ben, all of Wallingford, PA. She will be missed.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, West Reading, is in charge of arrangements.
