Sallie Ann Skrocki

Sallie Ann (Jones) Skrocki, 66, passed away on Tuesday, April 10, at her home in Muhlenberg Township, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of John S. Skrocki and they would have celebrated 45 years of marriage in August. She and John truly enjoyed traveling and together hiked in over 40 national parks.

Born June 24, 1951 in Scranton, Sallie was a daughter of the late Ben and LaVerne (Siegfried) Jones.

After graduating from West Scranton High School in 1969, Sallie began a service career, working for Bell Telephone in Scranton. In Reading, she worked at JCPenney's, starting part-time and retiring as a supervisor in 2013.

A faithful member of Good Shepherd Evangelical Lutheran Church, Muhlenberg, Sallie served as a Sunday usher and in the past tirelessly supported the youth group.

Sallie fought a long and hard battle with cancer, often referring to herself as a "stubborn Welshman." Last June, she was fortunate to enjoy her Celebration of Life with immediate family members at Bethany Beach. She is grateful to Dr. Villeneuve, of Tower Health Medical Group for his expert care, love and understanding.

In addition to her husband, Sallie is survived by their two sons, Jeffrey, husband of Jennifer of Grapevine, TX, and David, husband of Beth of Muhlenberg Township. She was a wonderful grandmother to Giulian, Jonah, and Ravin and step-grandmother to Gia, Kelli and Kaeli, who will each greatly miss her. Additionally, Sallie is survived by her sister, Vernie, wife of Jack Griffith and brother David Jones husband of Barbara.

A Celebration of Sallie's life will take place Monday, April 16 at 10:30am at Good Shepherd Evangelical Lutheran Church, 4201 Stoudt's Ferry Bridge Road, Reading. Friends may extend their sympathy and respect to Sallie's family this Sunday evening from 6:30-8:00pm at the Kuhn Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 5153 Kutztown Road, Temple, and Monday morning from 10:00-10:30am at the Church.

In lieu of flowers, Sallie asked that contributions be made to the McGlinn Cancer Institute at Tower Health Reading Hospital, 420 S. Fifth Avenue, West Reading, or to Good Shepherd Evangelical Lutheran Church at the address above.
