Ruth I. Young

Ruth Irene Young, 82, of Laureldale died September 14, 2008 in Reading Hospital and Medical Center where she was admitted earlier that day. She had been taken there from ManorCare Health Services, Muhlenberg Township where she was a resident since May 28th.

She was married to the late Boyd Oliver Young who died in 1991.

Ruth was a daughter of the late Charles William and Daisy Rebecca (Witmer) Weisser.

She was employed as a 5th Avenue Candy Packer at Luden's, Reading for 45 years, retiring in 1987.

Ruth was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church, Laureldale.

Surviving is one son, Boyd Allen, husband of Phyllis Elaine (Shugar) Young of Muhlenberg Township.

There are two sisters also surviving, Doris Mae (Weisser) Reitnouer of Alsace Township and Violet Viola (Weisser) Weaver of Laureldale.

In addition, there are two granddaughters, Krysten Marie Young of Laureldale and Kasey Lynn Young of Muhlenberg Township.

Ruth was predeceased by seven siblings, Dorothy E. (Weisser) Kocher, Donald L., James L., Elwood, Charles, Lawrence R. and William Weisser.

Graveside services will be Thursday at 3:30 p.m. in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Exeter Township, with Rev. Grant A. Wickert officiating.
