Ruth R. Seyfert, 73, of Tilden Twp., passed away on April 14, 2016 at home after a long battle with stomach cancer; with her immediate family in attendance. Born near New Ringgold, Schuylkill Co., she was a daughter of the late James W. Rhoades and Maude L. (Lutz) Rhoades Bright She was the loving wife of Richard W. Seyfert, Sr. They were married on Sept. 15, 1962 at St. John's UCC Church in Orwigsburg. She graduated from Blue Mt. High School in 1961. She worked at FESSLER'S underwear factory in Orwigsburg for several years. She was an active member of St. Michael's Church, Tilden Twp., where she helped teach Sunday school and helped with various church suppers and fundraisers. She also was an active member of Zion's Church, Windsor Castle, for 20 years, where she was involved in many mission trips for Appalachia Service Project, Hurricane Katrina relief with Samaritan's Purse and Habitat for Humanity. She also sang in the choir for many years, and helped with the Kutztown Folk Festival with the Zion's Women's Guild for many years. She was also a member of the church prayer chain till shortly before her passing. She loved the Lord, listening to Christian radio stations WBYN and WADC for many years. She was a loving mother and grandmother; her family kept her busy over the years. She loved baking cookies; baking as much as 200 lb. for Christmas, as well as pies & cakes. She enjoyed sewing and held sewing classes for 4-H members for many years. She also made clothes for family and friends. She also enjoyed gardening, especially flowers. She also did Meals on Wheels for several years, and volunteered with Diakon Services. In her spare time, she enjoyed yard sales, flea markets, and auctions. Surviving besides her husband is a son, Richard W. Seyfert, Jr.; a daughter, Sue Ann (Seyfert) Kooser, wife of William Kooser; two grandsons: Robert A. Kooser, and Zachary A. Kooser. She was predeceased by three brothers: Robert H. Rhoades, Wallace J. Rhoades, and James H. Rhoades; three sisters: Ellen A. (Rhoades) Koch, Janet P. Rhoades, Vida C. (Lutz) Yeager Coolidge. She is survived by three brothers: John W. Rhodes (Schuylkill Haven), William C. Rhoades (Orlando, Fla.), & Carl T. Rhoades (Orwigsburg); and three sisters: Alice M. (Rhoades) Shoener (Orwigsburg), Frances L. (Rhoades) Daubenspeck (Pine Grove), and Judith A. (Rhoades) Raffa (Mesquite, NV). She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Services will be held on, Tuesday, April 19th at 11:00 AM from ST. Michael's Church, 529 St. Michael's Road, Hamburg, PA 19526. A viewing will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. at the church and Monday evening from 7:00 to 8:30 PM at the Burkey & Driscoll Funeral Home, Inc., 40 S. 4th Street, Hamburg, PA. Internment will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery.
