Ruth I. Muhlenberg

Ruth I. Muhlenberg, a retired parochial school teacher, died Dec. 7 at 6:44 p.m. in Reading Hospital, shortly after being admitted.

Muhlenberg, 93, formerly of Parkside Drive South, was taken to the hospital from Country Meadows of Wyomissing.

She was an elementary teacher in the Sacred Heart School, West Reading, from 1960 to 1985.

Her husband, Charles R. Muhlenberg, died in July 1953.

Born in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Irvin and Rosa (Rehr) Impink.

Muhlenberg was a 1931 graduate of Rosemont College, Montgomery County.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, West Reading.

Surviving are a son, Frederick H., Cape May, N.J.; and two daughters, Joan M. (Muhlenberg) Sutton, Whitfield, and Barbara M. (Muhlenberg) Kendig, Danville, Calif.

Other survivors include a sister, Louise (Impink) Schlegel, Shillington; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, Laureldale. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., West Reading, is in charge of arrangements.
