Ruth Marie Madary

Ruth Marie Madary, 90, passed away on December 19, 2014 in her Wilmington, DE residence surrounded by her loving family.

She was the wife of Robert W. Madary Sr. whom she married October 11, 1941.

Born in Reading, she was the daughter of the late L. Herbert and Ruth (Hafer) Schmehl.

Marie was a 1941 graduate of Reading High School.

She was a member of the Concordia Lutheran Church in Wilmington, DE.

She was employed by UGI Corporation as a Payroll Supervisor for over 20 years until her retirement in 1982.

Marie loved reading, gardening and cooking. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband. But her true love was being a grandmother and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children: Robert W. Jr., husband of Bonnie L. Madary, Lititz; Susan C. wife of Gregory A. Raffauf, Wilmington, DE. She is also survived by her brother, John Schmehl, Chambersburg; five grandchildren, Philip W. Madary, David A. Madary, Alan R. Raffauf, Rachel M. Domenick, Katie E. Floyd and 14 great grandchildren.

Marie is predeceased by her siblings, Catherine Schmehl and L. Herbert Schmehl.

A Memorial service will be held on Friday at 10:30 am in the Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading, PA 19611. Burial will be in Charles Evans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contribution may be made to the Concordia Lutheran Church, 3003 Silverside Road Wilmington, DE 19810. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral is in charge of arrangements.
