They were married at Jacob's Church on January 30, 1954 by Reverend Clarence Rahn. They recently shared their 70th anniversary while Ruth was in the hospital.
Born on September 18, 1934 in Lynnville, PA to the late Henry A. and Lillian A. (Dietrich) Hartman. Ruth was a 1952 graduate of Perry High School. She would bake and provide snacks to Charles' unit. She was awarded a Certificate of Appreciation from Battalion Commander for providing "junk food".
Ruth was a lifelong member of Jacob's Church in New Tripoli, where she was baptized by Rev. Rahn on October 28, 1934. She was an active bowler for 50 plus years, 30 of which she served as the League Secretary. She also enjoyed traveling. After their retirement, Ruth and Charles traveled the country, including Alaska, and all of the Canadian provinces. She enjoyed crocheting afghans and doilies, and the gift giving for any and every occasion. Ruth loved spending time with her family.
In addition to her husband, those left to cherish Ruth's memory are her sister, Florence Yerger, of Shoemakersville; her brothers: Richard (Bernice) Hartman, of Mohrsville, and David Hartman, of Leepsort; as well as numerous in-laws, nieces, and nephews.
