Ruth M. Cardinal

Ruth M. Cardinal, 83, formerly of Playground Drive, West Reading, died Nov. 10 at 7:45 p.m. in St. Luke's Hospital Hospice Center, Bethlehem.

She was taken to the hospital from Country Meadows of Bethlehem.

She was the wife of Carmen Cardinal, also a resident at Country Meadows of Bethlehem.

Born in West Reading, she was a daughter of the late Harvey and Mary (Ulrich) Schollenberger.

Cardinal was employed for 55 years as a seamstress, last working at Letisse Inc., Reading, before retiring in 1994.

She was a member of Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church, Whitfield.

Cardinal played basketball in the Women's Industrial Basketball League in Reading from 1937 to 1945.

She is also survived by two sons, Ronald, Allentown, and Donald, Nazareth, Northampton County.

Other survivors include seven grandchildren.

Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. in Glad Tidings Church. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Spring Township. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., West Reading, is in charge of arrangements.
