Ruth L. Black, 87, of Reading and formerly of Wyomissing, died October 3, 2010 in the Reading Hospital and Medical Center.
Her husband, of 53 years, Elmer P. Black, died October 13, 1993.
Ruth Black was born in Carnegie PA on June 25, 1923, daughter of the late Walter D. Robison, Sr., and Louise (Armani) Robison. She was employed as a meat wrapper with Thoroughfare Markets in Carnegie and Lucky Food Markets in California,where she resided for 30 years, returning to PA in 2001.
Ruth loved to cook and bake; her kitchen was her hobby.
She is survived by her son, Gary E. Black, partner of Albert F. Salmon of Wyomissing. Also survived by her daughter, Joyce Lynn Romero, widow of Henry A. Romero of Wildomar, CA. Survived by 3 granddaughters: Gary's two, Malissa Nicole Young and Amanda Gelene Shocket both of PA and Joyce Lynn's daughter Erin Starr Romero of CA and also 4 great grandchildren: Hayden J. Young, Carter A Young, Rebecca L. Shocket and Rachael N. Shocket also of PA. Albert's two daughters, Janelle Stanley and Danielle Henry and great-grandchildren, Eric and Cera Stanley of CA also survive her.
Other survivors include a brother, Robert L. Robison and wife Natalie of Las Vegas NV, and sister-in-law, Aurora Robison wife of deceased brother Walter D. Robison Jr. of Carnegie, PA.
Memorial Services will be Monday October 11, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. in St. Alban's Episcopal Church, 2848 St. Alban's Drive, Sinking Spring, PA 19608. A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until time of services in the Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be to: Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Suite 1700, Chicago, IL 60601 or St. Alban's Church at the above address. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading is in charge of arrangements.
