Ruth I. Baumener

Ruth I. Baumener, 87, formerly of Shillington, died Sept. 6 at 7:18 a.m. in Reading Hospital, where she had been a patient two days.

She was taken to the hospital from Mifflin Court, Cumru Township.

She was the wife of Edward A. Baumener, also a resident at Mifflin Court.

Born in Muhlenberg Township, she was a daughter of the late Thomas H. and Mary E. (Field) Bohn.

Baumener was employed for 11 years as a high school secretary by the Gov. Mifflin School District, retiring in 1968.

She was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ, Shillington.

Baumener was a 1934 graduate of Reading High School.

She was a former member of the Sweet Adelines Chorus.

Baumener is also survived by three sons: Barry A., Mohnton; Kirk E., Shillington; and Sheldon S., Penn Township.

Other survivors include seven grandchildren and two great-grandsons.

Friends may call from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m on Thursday at the Kuhn Funeral Home. Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. in the Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., West Reading. Contributions may be made to the American Red Cross 701 Centre Ave. Reading, PA 19601. Burial will be in Bern Cemetery, Bern Township.
