Ruth M. Bampton

Ruth M. Bampton, 83, formerly of Reading, died May 2 at 7:13 p.m. in Reading Hospital, where she had been a patient since April 14.

She was taken to the hospital from Beverly Manor, Exeter Township, where she had resided since 2002.

She was the wife of George W. Bampton, also a resident at Beverly Manor.

Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she was a daughter of the late Robert and Kathryn (Blood) Henry.

Bampton was employed for 181/2 years as a bookkeeper by Kawecki-Berylco Industries Inc., Muhlenberg Township, retiring in 1982.

She was a 1940 graduate of Mount Penn High School.

Surviving is a stepdaughter, Joan L. (Bampton) Smith, Wyomissing.

Other survivors include a stepgranddaughter.

Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., West Reading. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Reiffton.
