Ruth Ann Beard of Denver, Pennsylvania—formerly of Morgantown and Cornwall—passed away on June 25, 2026, at Penn State Hershey Medical Center. Born on September 4, 1938, to the late George Wilmer Ruhl and Anna Mae (Eckert) Ruhl, Ruth lived a full and remarkable 87 years.
Ruth was a devoted wife to Karl, who preceded her in death on April 17, 2026. Their love story began in the second grade and blossomed through the years. As teenagers, Karl asked Ruth for their first dance at the Moose Lodge—a moment that marked the beginning of a lifelong bond. Together, they shared 68 wonderful years of marriage, a beautiful and enduring example of true love.
Ruth valued independence from an early age, beginning with her job as a young girl at Mt. Gretna Lake. She carried that spirit throughout her life and instilled those same values in her daughters. Ruth worked in various retail stores over the years, a natural fit given her love of shopping and connecting with people. She concluded her career after several years at Graco Children's Products, choosing to spend more time at her beloved beach house in Sea Isle City.
And then there was Christmas—Ruth and Karl didn’t just love the holiday; they lived for it all year long. From a tree in every room to her extensive collection of Santas displayed throughout most of the year, their home reflected the spirit of the season in every corner. The comforting aromas of Christmas cookies and homemade caramels filled the air, a tradition Ruth cherished. Known as “Grammy Ruth” to her grandchildren, she made sure each one received a special batch during the holidays, prepared with love. Holiday music began playing shortly after the Fourth of July, setting the tone for a season that, in Ruth and Karl’s home, never truly ended.
Ruth was a devoted member of St. Benedict’s Church in Mohnton, Pennsylvania, where she was active in the choir, the Red Hat Ladies, and the Prime Timers. As a couple, Ruth and Karl especially enjoyed the dinners and cruises organized by the group.
A loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Ruth never missed an occasion and was always present for the moments that mattered most. She is survived by her brother, Ronald Ruhl; her three daughters and their husbands: Cynthia and George Reppert, Monica and Thomas Ross, and Theresa and Kevin Raquet; her beloved grandchildren, Lyndsey Gable, Robert Harris, Laura Gamble, Michael Harris, Matthew Raquet, Sarah Eby, and Kristine Rapp; and her eleven beautiful great-grandchildren.
