Russell H. Gehrig, 87, of Wyomissing, died February 20, 2013, in Phoebe Berks Health Care Center.

He was the husband of Pauline K. (Kline) Gehrig.

Born in Schuylkill Haven, he was a son of the late John R. and Hattie (Knapp) Gehrig.

He was a graduate of Girard College and Penn State University.

Russell was a U.S. Army Corporal veteran during WW II. He served as a machine gunner and cannonear in Luzon Island, New Guinea and Leyte Island, Philippines.

He was employed as an industrial engineer for Textile Machine Works for 20 years. Russell worked as the Facilities Planner for Willson Products. He finished his career as an Associate Real Estate Broker for Century 21, among others, for 20 years until his retirement.

A lifelong tennis player, he played for over 30 years; he was ranked as high as #3 in Middle States, and was inducted into the Middle Sates Hall of Fame.

He was predeceased by his brother, John R. Gehrig.

Services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery, Kutztown. Friends may call one hour before the service. Online condolences may be recorded at www.kuhnfuneralhome.com.
