Russell C. Boyer

Russell Carl Boyer, 69, of 335 Shaffer Road, Maidencreek Township, Blandon, Pa 19510, died October 23rd at 7:34 pm in St. Joseph Medical Center, where he had been since Friday.

He was the husband of Susan Elaine (Hepner) Boyer.

Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Arthur E. and Stella (Ohlinger) Boyer.

He worked for 31 years at Empire Steel, Muhlenberg Township as an overhead crane operator before retiring in 1997.

Boyer is also survived by a daughter, Rachelle F. (Boyer) wife of Walter G. Hotzman of Reading.

Other survivors include four step-sons, John Frey of Ruscombmanor Township, Arthur Frey of Orwigsburg, James Heffelfinger of Honolulu, Hawaii, and Adam Heffelfinger of Fleetwood and two step-daughters, Tina Frey of Temple and Shawn Heffelfinger of Blandon.

He is also survived by two sisters, Edith (Boyer) Hoff of Hyde Park and Shirley (Boyer) Bechtel of Altus, Oklahoma.

Boyer is also survived by one grandson and seven step-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a daughter, Karen L. Boyer who died May 1984.

Services will be Wednesday at 1:00 pm in Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., Laureldale. Viewing 12:00 noon until time of service. Burial will be in Salem-Shalter's Cemetery, Alsace Township. Contributions may be made to American Lung Association 2121 City Line Road, Bethlehem, Pa 18017-0210.
