Russell Robert "Snug" Bingaman, Jr., 64, of Reading, died August 6, 2010 in his residence, after a long courageous battle with various aggressive cancers.
He was the husband of Sherry Lynn (Brown) Bingaman whom he married in Hamilton, Bermuda July 2, 1984.
Born August 29, 1945 in Reading, he was a son of the late Russell Robert, Sr. and Josephine Lucy (Dastra) Bingaman.
Russell was a 1962 graduate of Cocalico High School.
He was the owner and operator of Rising Sun Hotel, Reading for 8 years. Russell was also employed in the strip finishing department of Carpenter Technology, Muhlenberg Township for 10 years, retiring in 2007.
Russell served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.
He served as a volunteer with the Berks County Chapter of American Red Cross, Reading; Meals of Wheels and Lifeline.
Russell enjoyed gardening, shopping, helping others, coin collecting, going out for dinner, riding his Harley Davidson Motorcycle and his Boxer Lou.
Also surviving are two sons: Jesse T. Bingaman and his daughter, Kelsey S. Bingaman, both of Grants Pass, OR and Jason W. Bingaman of Reading.
In addition, there is a brother, Gary M. Bingaman of Reading.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday at 12 p.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Avenue, West Reading. A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to American Red Cross, 701 Centre Avenue, Reading, PA 19601.
