Rufus E. Moyer

Rufus E. Moyer, 79, formerly of Boyertown, passed away on Friday, February 10, 2012 in the Reading Hospital where he was admitted earlier in the day.

He wife Dorothy R. (Rhoads) Moyer passed away on May 24, 2002.

Born in Pike Township, he was a son of the late William B. Moyer, Jr. and Alice D. (Miller) Moyer.

He was employed with the former Boyertown Casket Company and last worked for Bally Case and Cooler.

He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Boyertown.

He is survived by his children: Cindy L. Melcher; Deborah D. Witman; Sandra T. Melcher; Michael E. Moyer and Randy H. Moyer, all of Boyertown and Mary L. Mast and John A. Rhoads, both of Oley and Kevin W. Moyer of Pikeville. Also his siblings: Ruby I. Moyer; Delores A. Lantz, Betty E. Moyer and William W. Moyer, all of Oley and Donald A. Moyer; Russell L. Moyer and Terry L. Moyer, all of Earl Township and Ella A. Weiser of Lobachsville, Robert L. Moyer of Pike Township and Harold E. Moyer of Delaware. He is also survived by 7 Grandchildren, 1 Great Grandaughter and 1 Step Great Grandson. He was predeceased by a Son Richard E. Moyer in 1956, a daughter, Sheila M. Rhoads in 1953 and a granddaughter Samantha A. Melcher in 1989. He was also predeceased by his siblings: Ruth S. Dierolf and Gerald L. Moyer.

Services will be held in Blankenbiller Funeral Home, 423 Main Street, Oley, on Wednesday, Februrary 15, 2012 at 11:00 am. Interment with military honors in Fairview Cemetery, Boyertown. Friends and family may view on Wednesday from 9:00-11:00 am.
