Rudy Albert Pfennig, Jr., of Laureldale, died August 8, 2013 in Reading Hospital.
He was the husband of Alexandra J. "Sandy" (Geffert) Pfennig, whom he married September 9, 1961.
Born August 24, 1935 in Reading, he was a son of Helen Mary (Shuman) Quinter of Laureldale and the late Rudy Albert Pfennig, Sr. He was predeceased by his stepfather, Carl H. Quinter.
Rudy was a 1953 graduate of Reading High School.
He was employed as a steel foreman with Carpenter Technology, Reading for 39 years, retiring in 1995.
Rudy served in the U.S. Navy.
He was a member of St. Stephen's Polish National Catholic Church, Cumru Township.
Rudy was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 62 F.&A.M., Reading Lodge of Perfection Shriners, Kempton Rod and Gun Club and Pricetown Rifle and Gun Club.
He enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Surviving in addition to his wife and mother are his two children: Eileen M., wife of Thomas J. Brennan of Collegeville and Erik M., husband of Yvonne M. Pfennig of Muhlenberg Township.
Also surviving are his five grandchildren: Meredith B. Pfennig, Samuel T. Brennan, Kelsey A. Brennan, Katie E. Brennan and Lauren M. Brennan.
Additional survivors include his stepbrother, Dale Leonard of Oreland, PA and his half-sister, Dawn Schrenk of Hatboro, PA.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 11 a.m. in St. Stephen's Polish National Catholic Church, 20 St. Stephen's Church Lane, Reading, PA 19607, with Very Rev. Edward D. Ratajack celebrating. A viewing will be held Sunday evening from 6:30-8:00 p.m. in Kuhn-Stitzel Funeral Homes and Crematory, Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale. Burial will be in St. Stephen's Memorial Cemetery, Kenhorst.
