Ruby N. Mortland

Ruby Nell (Minor) Mortland, 85, of Bern Township, died of natural causes March 10th at 3:04 pm in the Reading Hospital and Medical Center, where she had been since March 6th.

She was the widow of Samuel Mortland, who died April 19, 1980.

Born in Oakman, Alabama, she was a daughter of the late James and Manie (Warren) Minor.

She was employed for a number of years as a nurses aide at Berks Heim, Bern Township, retiring in 1971.

Mortland is survived by a daughter, Dorothy N. (Mortland) Wagner, of Bern Township and two sons, Milton E. of Sinking Spring and Joseph H. of Breinigsville, Lehigh County.

Other survivors include a brother, Milford Minor of Parrish, Alabama, seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a son, James Raymond Mortland, who died May 7, 1946.

Graveside services will be Wednesday at 11:00 am in Pleasant View Cemetery, Spring Township. No public viewing. Contributions may be made to National Osteoporosis Foundation, 1232 22nd Street N.W., Washington, D.C. 20037-1292. Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., Laureldale is in charge of arrangements.
