Roy Charles Higginson

Roy Charles Higginson, 94, died on January 25, 2024, at his home in Birdsboro surrounded by his loving family. Roy was the widower of Olive M. (Nunn) Higginson, who died on January 4, 2018. Born in Penge, Bromley, England on July 10, 1929, Roy was a son of the late Charles Horace Higginson and Mabel (Gee) Higginson. As a child he and his family lived through the Battle of Britian so in later life, his stories were full of incidents involving bombings and Spitfire airplanes.

Roy served in the British Army in occupied Germany. After he married Olive Margaret Nunn in 1952, he worked for the British Atomic Commission. Looking for alternate employment, he moved his family from England to Canada and eventually to the United States. He ended his career at Morgan Corporation as Vice President of Engineering and was an integral part in setting the foundation for the company it has become today.

Roy had a particular interest in British military history especially the Napoleonic era, focusing on British naval and army history. In addition to his interest in history, his life on his farm was filled with gardening, raising sheep, alpacas, and a few chickens.

Roy is survived by his daughters: Susan Higginson, wife of Robert Matt, and Helene Bean; three grandchildren, Sarah, wife of Jason Rauenzahn, Priscilla, and Aaron Bean; and three truly great grandchildren, Blair Rauenzahn, Riley Rauenzahn, and Quinn Rauenzahn. Several nieces and nephews in England, Canada, and Australia; and his favorite alpacas, Buttons and Digger also survive him.

He was predeceased by his brother, Barry Higginson.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Comfort Keepers Home and Heartland Hospice for their excellent care.
