Roy A. Orlando, 91, of Sinking Spring, died April 26, 2016, in Mifflin Center. He was the husband of Martha A. (Yonkovitch) Orlando. Born in Reading, PA on February 6, 1925, he was a son of the late Russell J. and Santa (Palmisano) Orlando.
A 1943 graduate of Central Catholic High School, he completed the HVAC apprenticeship program at Berks Engineering. He went on later to complete a two-year evening management program at Pennsylvania State University (Berks Campus). He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran serving during WWII.
Roy worked at The Firestone Tire and Rubber Company in Pottstown for 16 ½ years as an HVAC foreman. Later he worked at Occidental Chemical in Pottstown for 10 years, retiring in 1990. He was also an HVAC instructor in Montgomery and Berks County Vo-Tech schools for over 20 years.
He was a member of the Refrigeration Service Engineers Society for over 65 years.
Roy was a member of St. Ignatius Loyola Roman Catholic Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters: Marianne Orlando and Tina Orlando, both of Womelsdorf, PA; two step-daughters: Dr. Christa Souris, wife of Dr. Jeffrey Souris, Chicago, IL and Andrea J. Colburn, wife of Ben Colburn, Alexander, NC; two grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; one great-grandson and a brother, Russell J. Orlando, E. Petersburg, PA. He was predeceased by a brother, Salvatore Orlando and a sister, Joanne (Orlando) Passwaters.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 11:30 a.m. in St. Ignatius Loyola R. C. Church, 2810 St. Albans Dr., Sinking Spring, PA 19608, with entombment to follow at The Chapel of St. George at Gethsemane Cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. in the church.
