Rosemary K. Elson

Rosemary K. Elson, 89, passed away, Wednesday, March 1, 2017, in the Highlands at Wyomissing.

Her husband John Truscott Elson died in 2009.

Born in York, she was the daughter of the late Joseph H. and Marie (Stolorites) Knorr.

Rosemary was a graduate of St. Angela Hall Academy, Brooklyn, NY and Hunter College, NY.

She was a member of Sacred Heart R.C. Church, West Reading, and a former member of St. Thomas More and St. Ignatius Loyola R.C. Churches, both in Manhattan, NY.

Rosemary worked as a copy editor for Time Magazine in the 1950's, where she met her husband, John. She was honored to volunteer for more than 20 years with the Visiting Nurse Service in New York City. Rosemary was also a volunteer teacher in the New York Public Library's Adult Literacy Program, sharing her love of reading with adults in the South Bronx for more than six years.

She is survived by two daughters: Hilary, wife of Joel Alter, Lake Zurich, IL., and Amanda Elson, wife of Patrick McDermott, Mohnton, PA. One granddaughter, Kerry Anne Alter also survives her.

Rosemary was predeceased by her siblings: Theodore Knorr, Eugene Knorr and Dolores Knorr.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, March 6, 2017, at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart R.C. Church, West Reading. A visitation will be held Sunday, March 5, 2017, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., and again from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Avenue, West Reading.
