Rose M. Young

Rose Marie Young, 66, formerly of Poplar Avenue, Temple, died of natural causes Dec. 2 at 9:45 a.m. in Berks Heim, where she had resided since June 18, 2002.

She was the wife of Howard J. Young Sr.

Born in Wyomissing, she was a daughter of the late Karl and Josephine (Kasperwicz) Gartner.

Young was employed for several years as a licensed practical nurse by Wernersville State Hospital and by the Leader Home, West Reading, until her retirement.

She was a member of Zion (Spies) Lutheran Church, Alsace Township.

Young was a 1955 graduate of Wyomissing High School.

She is also survived by two sons, Gerald L., Temple, and Howard J., Centerport; and a daughter, Diane M. (Young) Geroni, Reading.

Other survivors include a brother, Hans Gartner, Lebanon; and five sisters: Irene (Gartner) Cook, Riverview Park; Shirley (Gartner) McCardle, in Arizona; Martha (Gartner) Hafer, Wyomissing; Karen (Gartner) Crocona, Shillington; and Nancy (Gartner) Yoder, Bern Township.

There are also three grandchildren.

Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. in Zion (Spies) Lutheran Church. Burial will be private in Berks County Memorial Gardens, Maidencreek Township,. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., West Reading, is in charge of arrangements.
