Rose M. Shiery

Rose M. Shiery, 87, of Pine Street, West Reading, died Sept. 8 at 12:15 p.m. in Phoebe Berks Health Care Center Inc., Wernersville, where she had been a patient for one month.

Her husband, Leon A. Shiery, died Dec. 21, 1989.

Born in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Victor E. and Rose (Pollano) Torchia.

Shiery had been employed for 15 years as a sales clerk by Whitner's Department Store, Reading, retiring in 1978.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, West Reading.

Shiery is survived by a son, Lee A., Sinking Spring.

Other survivors include a brother, Michael J. Torchia, West Reading.

There are also three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by a son, David M., on April 9, 1993.

A Mass of Christian will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, Laureldale. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., West Reading, is in charge of arrangements.
