Rose Marie Harakal

Rose Marie Harakal, 91, formerly of West Reading passed away on January 31, 2025, at the Reading Hospital. She was the wife of Robert L. Harakal whom she married on January 20, 2012.

Born in Reading, she was the daughter of the late James and Rose (Pisano) Martorana. Rose graduated from Reading High School in 1951. She was employed by the R.M. Palmer Company and later as an operator at Western Electric, AT&T, and Lucent Technologies until her retirement in 1996.

Rose was a member of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church. She loved people. Rose took her camera everywhere she went and music played a big part in her life.

Rose is survived by her husband Robert of Wyomissing, children: Kathy Hitz of Robesonia; Vicki Clay of Reading; and Barry Bredbenner of Reading; grandchildren: Zachary Schlarb, Sara Strahin, Amanda Hitz, Dennis Hitz, Shara Bredbenner, and Michael Bredbenner and great grandchildren: Nahtalia Rose Strahin, Gihana Strahin, Zayden Strahin, Kaden Mayo, Alice Schlarb, Cora Schlarb, and Aaliyah Bredbenner, as well as two cousins, Grace Kline and Catherine Bolig.

She was predeceased by her son, Keith Bredbenner, grandchild, Jesse Bredbenner, and grandchildren, Anthony, Michael, and Jessica Rose.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, February 7, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church with interment at Gethsemane Cemetery to follow. The viewing will be held from 9:00–10:00 a.m. on Friday morning at Kuhn Funeral Home, West Reading. As this is a time to celebrate her life, Rose has asked that all attendees wear colorful clothing.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kuhn Funeral Home to help defray final expenses.
