Rose Phyllis Cardine

Rose Phyllis (DeMarco) Cardine, 88, of Temple, died March 10, 2014 in Sacred Heart Villa, Muhlenberg Township.

She was the wife of Victor William Cardine who died April 12, 1997.

Born January 1, 1926 in Jersey City, NJ, she was a daughter of the late Samuel and Jo Ann (DelGaldo) DeMarco.

Rose was a 1944 graduate of Dickinson High School, Jersey City, NJ and a 1947 graduate of Jersey City Medical Center, Jersey City, NJ.

She was employed as a Registered Nurse and Health Officer with Emmaus Health Department for a number of years. Subsequently, she was employed as the housing manager for the Allentown Housing Authority for the elderly for a number of years, until retirement.

Rose was a member of Holy Guardian Angels Roman Catholic Church, Hyde Park. After a program of study and prayer she professed vows in the Secular Carmelite Order.

Surviving are her five children: Ret. Col Christopher V., husband of Linda (Lauffer) Cardine of Detroit, MI; Curtis J., husband of Roseanne (Tylor) Cardine of Gilbert Arizona; Clifford P., husband of Connie (Santilli) Cardine of Orefeild, PA; Corey M., husband of Annette J. (Wetzel) of Muhlenberg Township and Craig L., husband of Jo Ann (Barrone) Cardine of Glen Moore, PA.

There are also fifteen grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren surviving.

Rose was predeceased by her siblings: Nicholas A. DeMarco, Catherine Ferra and Yolanda Primiano.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Thursday at 11 a.m. in Holy Guardian Angels Church, 3121 Kutztown Road, Reading, PA 19605. A visitation will be held one hour prior to mass, in the church. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Wescosville.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Holy Guardian Angels Church at the above address and or Sacred Heart Villa, 51 Seminary Ave, Reading, PA 19605.
