Ronald L. Pursel

Ronald L. Pursel, 69, died June 7, 2012 in his Centre Township residence.

His wife, Patricia E. (McVaugh), passed away July 15, 2007.

Born in Bloomsburg, he was a son of the late Floyd G. and Frances (English) Pursel.

Ron worked in law enforcement for the Military Police, Conrail and in 1999 he retired from Berks County Prison. He and his wife also owned Pursel's Roofing and General Contracting for 10 years and Pursel's Sandwich Shop for 12 years, both in Mohrsville.

He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving two tours in Vietnam.

Ron is survived by his three children: Michael L., husband of Patricia A. Pursel, Reading; Brian J., husband of Jenny Pursel, Leesport and Christine A., wife of Jason Matz, Mohrsville. Also surviving are his siblings: Dale Pursel, Catawissa; Nola Crone, Bloomsburg; Ethel Stine, Buckhorn and Marjorie Dawson, Bloomsburg. Eight grandchildren: Jessica, Teresa, Kathleen, Dennis, Alyssa, Jared, Michael and Jocelyn also survive him.

He was predeceased by his brother, Donald F. Pursel.

Services will be Wednesday at 12 p.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading. A viewing will be 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the funeral home. Entombment will be in Gethsemane Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Topton American Legion, 133 Centre Avenue Topton, PA 19562.
