Ronald S. Kastura, 64, died September 24, 2010 in his Wyomissing residence, peacefully, with his wife and dog by his side.
He was the husband of Eileen M. Giles.
Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Mary M. (Simcik) Kastura.
He was a graduate of Reading High School.
Ron was employed for 32 years by the City of Reading, Bureau of Water, as a shop foreman, retiring in 2000.
He was a member of West Lawn United Methodist Church, West Lawn.
Ron was a member of various social groups including his role as past president of AFSCME, first level supervisor local, until 2000. He was also a member of the Basset Hound Club of America. Ron was known for his smile and sunshine personality that brightened many people's lives. He loved people and socializing and will be greatly missed.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his brother-in-law, Richard S. Giles, Jr., husband of Donna Giles, Cumru Township and his nephews: Tyler, husband of Maggie Giles and Kyle Giles as well as his great nephew Frankie, great niece Jenna and many cousins. He is also survived by his close friends: Peter and Gloria, Donna and Roy, Dennis and Jeanne, Grizz and Brenda, Rick and Gail and Woody and Sandy. He will be dearly missed by his beloved basset hound, Toby, who was always by his side and other special friends too many to mention.
Services will be Thursday, September 30, 2010, family and friends will be received at West Lawn United Methodist Church, 15 Woodside Avenue, West Lawn, from 5 pm to 6 pm. Services and celebration of Ron's life will begin at 6 pm. Inurnment will be private at the convenience of the family.
