Ronald James Dentzer, 73, passed away September 27, 2011, surrounded by his loving family in his Muhlenberg Township residence.

He was the husband of Barbara A. (Spahn) Dentzer. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on April 8, 2011.

Born in Reading, he was a son of the late John and Erma (Murray) Dentzer.

He graduated from Reading High School in 1957.

Ron worked as a maintenance technician for the Reading Eagle for 18 years, retiring in 2004. Formerly he was employed as a television technician.

He was a U.S. Air Force veteran.

Ron enjoyed woodworking, fishing and playing basketball. He had a passion for sports, especially Philadelphia sports teams. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather that loved spending time with his family. He will be dearly missed.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his four children: Michael J. Dentzer, Birdsboro; Christine M., wife of Scott E. Watts, Shrewsbury; Robert J., husband of Lori D. Dentzer, Mohrsville and Lori A., wife of Brian P. Johnson, Muhlenberg Township. Also surviving are his sisters: Edie Nuss and Shirley Deren, both of Reading and his seven grandchildren: Ashley, Eric, James, Brittany, Austin, Owen and Alyson.

Ron was predeceased by his sister, Myrle Miller.

A Memorial Service will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading. A visitation will be 1 to 1:30 p.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice, 4 Park Plaza Park Rd, Wyomissing, PA 19610.
