Ronald E. "Butch" Blatt, 65, passed away Friday, November 12, 2010, in the Reading Hospital and Medical Center.
His wife, Jennifer A. (Raffanelli) Blatt, passed away in 2003.
Born in West Reading, he was the son of John and Annie (Werner) Blatt.
He was a 1962 graduate of West Reading High School, where he played varsity baseball.
He was employed by American Bank, where he worked for 25 years, followed by Wyomissing High School, where he worked as both a Crossing Guard and a Cafeteria Worker, for 15 years.
Butch started Blatt Racing Enterprises, owner of car #27, driven by Tommy Long, in 1975. He was a lifetime member of RFRHS (Reading Fairgrounds Racing Historical Society), where he served on the Board of Directors. He was a lifelong racing enthusiast, involved in many different aspects at the Reading Fairgrounds & surrounding race tracks. He was also a former President of VFBA, West Reading. He loved country music, the Reading Phillies, and was an avid bowler.
He is survived by two sisters: Florence and Alfretta. He is also survived by several sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Avenue, West Reading, PA 19611. A viewing will be Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 10 to 11a.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Reading Fairgrounds Racing Historical Society, P.O.
