Ronald L. Bickhart

Rev. Ronald L. Bickhart, 68, of Spring Township, passed away November 25, 2010, in Reading Hospital and Medical Center.

He was the husband of Anna (Swarr) Bickhart, who were married 42 years.

Born in Ephrata, he was a son of the late Wilson and Alice (Buffenmyer) Bickhart.

He was a graduate of Ephrata High School in 1960, Albright College in 1967 and United Theological Seminary, Dayton OH in1970.

He was ordained an Elder in the Eastern PA Conference of The United Methodist Church in 1970.

Rev Bickhart served as Pastor of eight United Methodist Churches in his 39 years of active ministry and was the Pastor of Visitation for the West Lawn United Methodist Church.

Rev. Bickhart was an active member of the Elverson-Morganton Lions Club where he received the Melvin Jones Service Award in 2005.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Pam, wife of Mark Kennedy, Rising Sun, MD; his brother, Larry, husband of Doris Bickhart, Ephrata and two grandsons, Wyatt Kennedy and Hunter Kennedy.

Services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. in West Lawn United Methodist Church, 15 Woodside Ave. West Lawn, PA 19609. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Ephrata. Friends may call Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading, PA 19611 and Thursday from 9 to 10 a.m. in the church.
