Roger L. Weinhold

Roger L. Weinhold, 68, of Spring Township, died January 4, 2011 in ManorCare, West Reading.

He was the husband of Bettina K. (Jung) Weinhold.

Born in West Reading, he was a son of the late Miriam Wieder and Eugene Weinhold. He is also survived by his step-mother, Madalyn Weinhold, Shillington.

He was a 1960 graduate of Governor Mifflin High School. He earned a B.S. and M.S. from East Stroudsburg University and a Principal's Certificate from Lehigh University.

Roger was an avid sports fan and was an athlete in high school. At Governor Mifflin he was an All County football player in 1959 and 1960; he was a member of the track team,wrestling team and in his senior year he was awarded the Cecil King Award for Outstanding Athlete. He was also a member of the Clover Park A.A.

He worked as an Elementary Principal for Daniel Boone School District and after retirement as an Adjunct Professor for Alvernia University.

Roger enjoyed the beach and loved his family. He especially liked being a "Pop Pop".

He was a member of Immanuel U.C.C., Shillington.

He is survived by his two children: Jeffrey L. Weinhold, Manassas, VA and Pamela B., wife of Derek S. Miller, Sinking Spring and his two grandchildren: Audrey Miller and Ian Miller.

Services will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading. Friends may call from 9 to 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
