Roger Gallo, 83, died of natural causes May 31st at 7:00am in his Wyomissing Residence.
He was the husband of Meta J. (Wehr) Gallo. He was predeceased by his first wife, Helen M. (Manfredi) Gallo, who died June 6, 1967.
Born in Temple, he was a son of the late Dominic and Josephine (Buda) Gallo.
He was a 1940 graduate of Muhlenberg High School.
Gallo was employed 38 years as a furnace operator at Kawecki-Berylco, now NGK Metals, Muhlenberg Township, before retiring in 1983.
He was a Purple Heart recipient and an Army Veteran of WWII.
Gallo was a member of St. Ignatius Loyola Roman Catholic Church, Whitfield.
He is also survived by a son, Roger L. Gallo of Wyomissing and a daughter, Barbara A. Gallo of Lewes, Delaware.
Other survivors include a step-son, Mark Oxenreider of Womelsdorf and a step-daughter, Suzanne (Oxenreider) Clapper of Canton, GA.
Gallo is also survived by a sister, Rose (Gallo) Perrotti, of Temple and three brothers, Joseph Gallo of Palm Desert, CA, Anthony Gallo of Temple and Charles Gallo of Blandon.
There are also seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Services will be Monday at 10:00 am in West Lawn United Methodist Church, Penn & Woodside Avenues. Viewings Sunday evening 6:00 - 8:00 pm in Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., Laureldale and Monday morning 9:00am until time of service in the church. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Spring Township. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Berks Visiting Nurse Association, c/o Hospice, 1170 Berkshire Blvd., Wyomissing, Pa 19610 or Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
