Roger Killian Feeg

Roger Killian Feeg , 89, of Robeson Twp., passed away on November 25, 2021, at Reading Hospital.

He was the husband of Muriel S. (Scholl) Merritt Feeg, and also the late Nancy J. (Luberecki) Feeg.

Born in West Reading, he was the son of the late William J. and Margaret B. (Killian) Feeg.

Roger graduated from West Reading High School in 1950.

The Korean Conflict interrupted Roger's attendance at Albright College. He was drafted into the U.S. Army and trained with the 101st Airborne Heavy Weapons Infantry at Camp Breckinridge, Kentucky. He was assigned to the Army Language School in Monterey, CA and learned to speak the Mandarin Chinese language, then sent to Korea and assigned to the G-2 (intelligence) section of the 1st Marine Corps Division interrogating captured Chinese soldiers and military personnel.

Honorably discharged as Sgt. from the Army. In 1955 Roger resumed his studies at Albright College, graduating in 1958. He also earned a Master's Degree from Temple University. He began his teaching career at Conrad Weiser High School, then at the former West Reading High School and finally at Schuylkill Valley High School. During his 35 years in public school education he taught a variety of high school histories and social sciences. He was also involved in coaching a variety of athletics: football, basketball, and track & field.

Roger was also involved in community service; serving as a supervisor in Spring and Robeson Townships and as Chairman in both townships, serving two terms at the latter.

He enjoyed playing sports and discussed history and had a keen interest in politics into his later years.

Roger and his wife "Mimi" enjoyed traveling throughout the U.S. and Canada over many years. Most recently enjoying life in Central Montana at their beloved home there, where they spent several months each year.

He is survived by his spouse, Muriel S. (Scholl) Feeg, his children, Rodd C. (Allison) Feeg of Elysburg; JoLynn Everett (Thomas) of Coral Springs, Florida; his step-children: Christine Merritt (Tim Leafstrand), Ridgway, CO; Heather Merritt-Dixon (Keith) of Douglassville, and Conan Merritt; his grandchild, Megan K. Bird (Ryan), step-grandchildren, Lydia Leafstrand and Danial Leafstrand, and his two great grandchildren, Max and Elizabeth Bird.

Roger was predeceased by his brother, Gilbert R. Feeg.

A service will be held on Thursday, December, 2, 2021, at 11 a.m. at Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading, with burial to follow at St. John's Host Cemetery. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
