Rodney S. Sweigart

Rodney S. Sweigart, 87, passed away November 20th in the Manorcare Health Facilities, Laureldale.

Rodney was the widower of Betty J. (Riegel) Sweigart who passed away December 5, 2014 and to whom he had been married 56 years. He was the son of the late Stephen Eberly Sweigart and Ethel (Crow) Sweigart. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Mildred E. Young and a brother, Raymond Sweigart.

Rodney was a 1946 graduate of Reading High School and attended numerous advanced business courses at Albright College.

He retired from full time employment in 1987 from Red Cheek where he had been a foreman. He previously had worked at DS&W Hosiery as general manager and King Kup-Schoener Candy as production manager. After retirement he worked part time at Giant Markets, Wal-Mart and Hill's stores.

He was a long time member of Olivet Reformed Church, 1648 Centre Avenue, Reading, PA where he served as a Deacon and an Elder. He was a member of the Berks County Sunday School Association and served as its President in 1971 and Co-President from 1999 to 2001.

He served in the US Army from 1950-1952 in the Second Armored Division during the Occupation of Germany.

He is survived by a son, Michael S. Sweigart, husband of Sandra Sweigart, of Coopersburg, PA and several nieces and a nephew.

Memorial Service will be held Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at 1:00 PM in Olivet Reformed Church, 1648 Centre Avenue, Reading, PA with Pastor Rev Bonnie Dalious officiating. Interment will be private in Charles Evans Cemetery at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Memorial Fund of Olivet Reformed Church. The Edward J.
