Robin J. Beatty

Robin Johnston Beatty, 82, of Wyomissing, passed away on December 10, 2024, at the Reading Hospital. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, John D. Beatty, who passed on May 31, 2013. The couple married on December 21, 1963, at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in State College, Pennsylvania.

Born and raised in State College, Robin was the daughter of the late Dr. Howard Johnston and Evelyn (Korman) Johnston. A graduate of State College High School and Penn State University, she earned her degree in Art. After dedicating her early years to raising her family, Robin pursued a professional career, serving as a Product Manager at Dimensions, Inc. in Reading for over 20 years.

Robin was deeply involved in her community, devoting her time and talents to numerous organizations. She was a member of the Berks Literary Council, where she taught both children and adults how to read, and an active participant in the Junior League of Reading, where she was a longtime sustainer. Through the Junior League, she read to inmates at the Berks County Prison. Robin also volunteered for Meals on Wheels and the Wyomissing Library, where she helped launch the library's Garden Club.

Robin and her husband shared a love of travel and adventure that took them on incredible journeys, including a mountain gorilla expedition in Rwanda, trips to the Amazon rainforest, and visits to Kathmandu, Nepal. She was also passionate about art, gardening, and her family, serving as the cherished matriarch. Robin especially treasured her role as grandmother, instilling her love of travel and adventure in her granddaughters. In her later years, she created lasting memories by taking them on special one-on-one trips to explore countries and cultures around the world.

A proud Penn Stater, Robin was an enthusiastic supporter of Penn State Wrestling, a passion inspired by her father, who became the university's first NCAA Wrestling Champion in 1935. Whether attending matches in person or cheering from home, her love for the sport was unmistakable.

Robin is survived by her sons, John D. Beatty Jr., husband of Sarah, of Downingtown, and Douglas M. Beatty, husband of Julie, of Phoenixville; and her granddaughters, Kendall and Morgan. She was predeceased by her sister, Linda Martin.

A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.
