Robert J. Smith, 78, of Flying Hills and Stuart, FL, passed away on June 14th at his residence, after a brave 5 year battle with colon cancer.
He was the husband of Henrietta M. (Kline) Smith.
Born in Pottsville, he was the son of the late Vincent J. and Agnes M. (Bauer) Smith.
Robert was a 1946 graduate of Pottsville High School.
He was the owner of Cronrath and Smith Motors, Inc., and the Beer Baron beer distributor.
Robert was a member of St. Benedict's Roman Catholic Church.
He was an Army Veteran of World War II.
He was an avid golfer, who had six holes in one. He loved all his golfing friends here and in Stuart, Fl. Bob lived life to the fullest and enjoyed joking with his friends after golfing or while dining. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Robert is survived by one daughter, Karen Smith, Reading and one step- daughter, Patricia A. (Kline) wife of Rick DeJoseph, Sr. Bernville.
He is also survived by two brothers, Joseph V., Whitney Point, NY, Edward G. Smith, Saint Clair, Pa and two sisters, Agnes (Smith) Trout, Saint Clair, Pa and Mary Ann (Smith) Holley, Pottsville.
There is also one granddaughter, Shannon Helms, and grandson, Chris DeJoseph.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Fay (Winter) Smith.
There will be a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Benedict's Roman Catholic Church, 2020 Chestnut Hill Road, Mohnton, Pa 19540. Friends may call at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the Mass. Entombment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Benedict's Roman Catholic Church, at the above address or Pinnacle Health Hospice, 301 One Norwegian Plaza, Pottsville, PA 17901. Edward J.
