Robert C. Simonson

Robert C. Simonson, 85, of Lower Heidelberg Township, passed away May 7, 2015, in St. Joseph Hospital.

He was the husband of Nelda M. (Schoenly) Simonson.

Born in Morristown, NJ, he was the son of the late Horace G. and Margaret (Culbert) Simonson.

He was a graduate of Chatham High School, NJ, in 1947 and New York University, NY in 1964.

Robert was a U.S Air Force veteran who proudly served for 20 years, retiring as Major.

He was an active member of St. Alban's Episcopal Church, Sinking Spring where he served in the choir for many years and also the church Vestry.

He was also a member of the American Meteorological Society.

Robert worked as a meteorologist for USAF from 1952-1972; meteorological consultant for Gilbert Associates from 1973-1985; and Chief meteorologist/modeler, Department of Environmental Resources, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania from 1985-1995.

He enjoyed extensive traveling to Europe and Canada. Robert especially loved to travel to England with a selective group performing in the Royal Festival Hall with the London Philharmonic Orchestra and singing with the Madrachor choir.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children: Geoffrey B. Simonson, VA; and Genevra A. Simonson, FL; and two step-children: Jennifer E. (Warfel), wife of Mark Turrell, CA; and J. Brian, husband of Margaret McCoy Warfel, Hamburg.

Services will be Saturday May 23, 2015 at 10 a.m. in St. Alban's Episcopal Church, 2848 St. Albans Dr, Sinking Spring, PA 19608. Inurnment with be in St. Alban's Episcopal Church Columbarium.
