Robert G. Rolland, 86 of Hamburg died in Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest on July 6, 2014. He was the husband of Esther M. (Schaeffer) Rolland. Robert was born in West Reading on January 21, 1928 and was the son of the late Nelson H. and Alice P. (Teter) Rolland. He was a 1946 graduate of Hamburg High School and was a WWII Army era veteran. Robert owned the former Rolland's Food Market from 1955 to 1976 in Hamburg and then worked for the Hamburg Center for 13 years in the food service division retiring in 1991. Robert was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Hamburg. Bob was a life member of Behler-Heim American Legion Post # 637 and a former Junior Vice Commander, life time member of the Hamburg Fish and Game Association and a former trustee. He was also a former member of the Lenhartsville Fish & Game Association and Kempton Gun Club and a member of A.F.S.C.M.E. and a former trustee. He was also an avid deer hunter and hunted with his children on numerous occasions. In addition to his wife Esther, Robert is survived by a son, Bruce N. Rolland, Hamburg, 2 daughters, Brenda A. Rolland, Reading and Barbara wife of Zane Barrall, Tilden Township, 2 grandsons, Westley and Zachary and a great granddaughter, Abigail. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, Church and Pine Streets, Hamburg, PA. 19526. A viewing will be held on Thursday, from 9:30 to 11:00 AM in the Burkey & Driscoll Funeral Home, Inc. 40 S. 4th Street, Hamburg, PA. The funeral services will begin at 11:00 AM.
