Robert Carl Reber, 61, of Reading, died April 4, 2009 in the University of Pennsylvania Hospital, where he had been a patient since December 17th.
He was the husband of Robin G. (Rovell) Reber, whom he married June 15, 1991.
Born in the Reading Hospital on June 29, 1947, he was a son of Marvin L. and Mary L. (Crimaldi) Reber of Reading.
He was a 1965 graduate of Reading High School and a 1976 graduate of Penn State University.
Robert was an Air Force Veteran of the Vietnam War and received the Airman of the year for the world award.
He was the owner of Robert C. Reber Accounting & Financial Services, Inc., Reading for 40 years, last working in December.
Robert was also an owner of Financial & Tax Strategies, Inc., Reading for 20 years and was an owner of R&D Industries, Inc., Hamburg since 2001.
He was a past president and vice president of the Pennsylvania Society of Public Accountants.
Robert also served on the Pennsylvania State Board of Accountants; was a past board of trustee at Kutztown University; past acting financial director of the Reading Hospital and was a past chief financial officer at Gotwals & Brookledge, Inc., Oley and Bridgeview, Inc., Morgantown.
He is also survived by four children: Robert M., husband of Luany (Hernandez) Reber of Ridgefield Park, N.J.; Jeffrey R., husband of Heather R. (Boone) Reber of Perry Township; Dr. Douglas M., husband of Janet (Pugh) Reber of Austin, Texas and Melissa A. (Reber), wife of David Rosario, Jr., of Allentown.
Other survivors include two sisters: Mary R. (Reber), wife of Michael A. Notario of Wyomissing and Patricia A. (Reber), wife of Guy J. Intelisano of Kenhorst and a brother-in-law; Roger J. Rovell of St. Pete Beach, Florida.
There are also nine grandchildren: Matthew Reber, Haley Reber, Andria Reber, Elena Rosario, Devon Reber, Gabriel Reber, Elijah Rosario, Dannion Reber and Haddon Reber and two nieces and two nephews.
He is also survived by his German Shepherd, "Lady".
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 9:30 am in Holy Rosary R.C. Church, 3rd & Franklin Streets, Reading. A viewing will be held Tuesday 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading. Burial will be in Laureldale Cemetery, Muhlenberg Township.
