Robert Thomas Powell

Robert T. Powell, 93, of Robeson Township, passed away Wednesday, March 10, 2021, in the care of his wife and family. He was the loving husband of Marguerite (Hallermeier), with whom they would have celebrated 70 years of marriage this coming June.

Born in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late Clayton and Anna May (Hooper) Powell.

Bob, or Uncle Bob, as he was affectionately known, was a talented architectural engineer. For many years he worked for United Engineers, which was purchased by Raytheon. He had a long career whose highlights included designing everything from bridges and roadways to nuclear power plants and rocket launch pads. He was invaluable, helping his family build and design their own homes, and took much pride in all his work.

Bob attended mass faithfully with his wife at the Church of St. Benedict, Mohnton.

Left to treasure Bob's memory is his wife, Marguerite; his children: Elaine Pennington, wife of Richard Pennington, of Barto; Robert Powell, husband of Cynthia (Salveson) Powell, of Collegeville; and Eleanor Mensak, wife of Christopher Mensak of Morgantown; his beloved grandchildren: Rachel Mensak; Elizabeth Martin, wife of Zach Martin; Nathaniel Mensak; Michael Pennington, husband of Nicollette (Smith) Pennington; Elise Pennington, partner of Jared Deitrick; Rhianna Powell; Hailee Powell; and Tara Powell. Bob is also survived by his great grandchildren; Jason, Eva, and Levi Martin; Izabella Deitrick; and Kennedy Pennington.

In addition to his parents, Bob was predeceased by his brothers John, Byron, and Charles Powell and his sisters, Marion Hoffman and Eleanore Sleath.

Uncle Bob adored his extended family that included many nieces and nephews. He loved attending family gatherings for reminiscing and building on the families' ancestry.

Bob loved history, taking his children every weekend to view historical sites, even taking them to see the launch of Apollo 11's takeoff in Florida for the moon landing.
