Robert William Melcher

Robert William Melcher, Sr., 71, of Wyomissing, died March 18, 2010 in Columbia Cottage.

His wife Roseann (Borelli) Melcher died in 2006.

Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Stewart H. and Rita T. (Breen) Melcher.

Robert was a 1957 graduate of Central Catholic High School.

Robert was a member of St. Margaret's Roman Catholic Church.

He was a member of the Local Union 19 Sheet Metal Workers for 50 years, retiring in 1997; International Order of Odd Fellow Shillington Lodge #1175 and previously involved in the Boys Scouts and Camp Fire.

Robert was an Eagle Scout.

He is survived by four children, Karen A. Bertram, Reading, Robert W., Jr., husband of Theresa A., Robesonia, Rick W., husband of Annemarie, Wyomissing and Kathleen A., wife of Gary T. Kercher, Laureldale.

Robert is also survived by six siblings: Patricia A. Cammarano, Laureldale, James S., West Lawn, R. Katherine Campbell, Bradenton, FL, Mary E. Sianis, Broomfield, CO, Michele L. Moulds, Vienna, MD and Christopher L., Lansing, KS; fourteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a brother, J. Barry Melcher.

A. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 9:30 a.m. in St. Margaret's R.C. Church, 925 Centre Ave., Reading, PA 19601. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading, PA 19611. Contributions may be made to St. Margaret's Church at the above address.
