Robert W. Madary, Sr.

Robert W. Madary, Sr., 95, passed away August 13, 2017, in his Wilmington, DE residence.

His wife, Ruth Marie (Schmehl) died December 19, 2014. They married on October 11, 1941.

Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Raymond and Laura (Koller) Madary.

He attended Reading High School.

Robert served in the U.S. Army during WWII as a staff sergeant.

He was employed by U.G.I. Corporation before retiring in 1984.

Robert was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church, Wilmington, DE.

He loved to travel with his wife and enjoyed camping and boating.

Robert is survived by two children: Robert W. Jr., husband of Bonnie L. Madary, Lititz; and Susan C. wife of Gregory A. Raffauf, Wilmington, DE; and his sister, Anna Jane Bolton, Mt. Penn. Five grandchildren: Philip W. Madary, Springfield, David A. Madary, Lititz, Alan R. Raffauf, Howell, NJ, Rachel M. Domenick, Wilmington, DE, and Katie E. Floyd, Milton, DE; and 14 great-grandchildren also survive him.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading. Burial will be in Charles Evans Cemetery.
